Frisky Fall: My Fall Reading Challenge

Yellow wet autumn leaves on the background a dark old wood

Time to bust out those leggings, oversized sweatshirts, and grab some Pumpkin Spice. Fall is here! As we relish in the changing of the leaves and the cooling of the weather, it is a very good time to curl up with a Pumpkin Spice Latte and enjoy a good book.
I will admit, I’ve failed at doing reading this summer, and I could do a lot more of it. I know I’m always busy writing, but reading makes me a better writer, so I need to make time for it.
I’ve decided that I’m going to compile a list of books I want to read this fall, and hopefully some of you will join me. Most of these books will be Contemporary and/or Erotic Romance, BWWM and not. As I finish, I will post my reviews here.
My list is below, and each title is a link to the book’s Amazon Page.
Let’s get reading!

BEAUTIFUL VENGENCE – Perri Forrest & Jasmine Williams

Fifty Shades of Grey – EL James

**I know I’m so behind on this one. I’ve read chapter one, but it is a hard book to get through. I need to finally finish, so I’m not left out. I’ve seen the movie, though.

Billionaire Romance: Billionaire Games (Book 1) – Anna Collins

10-80: Line of Duty Series – Xyla Turner

Beautiful Prey: The Storm Series – Phoenix Daniels

Only You – Ancelli

Up In The Treehouse – KK Allen

Intimate Strangers – Tara Mills

ENVY Deceptive Desires #1 – Amarie Avant

Deep Betrayal – Raven Mera (Finished – REVIEW COMING SOON)

As the Fall goes, I may add or subtract books from this list, and we will see how it works. When I finish a book, I will review it.

I’m also doing NaNoWriMo in November, going to make this fall fun and exciting.

Follow my mailing list to get more insight on the above books and a chance to win a $10 Amazon Card as well as three of my favorites from the above list.

Summer Love Reviews: My Soldier’s Heart: Part 1 Loved

I literally just finished reading this book minutes ago. I experienced so many emotions in such a short amount of time while reading this book.

About the Book:

Screen Shot 2016-07-06 at 7.52.25 AM.pngA chance encounter brings Charlie and Kelsie together during his leave from the Army and they both know they were meant to be. But what happens when Charlie has to go back to war? Can they survive the tragedies of war? Or will it break them? This is the beginning of their story of love, loss, and healing.

My Review:

This is a fast-moving love story, and I love myself a good fast love story. Charlie and Kelsie jump right in to mix in what seems like it will be a one night stand, but it becomes much more than that very fast. They find home in one another and can’t seem to let go from the first moment.

Their physical attraction to one another is off the charts. They can’t get enough of one another, but they only have 13 days before Charlie has to return to Afghanistan. I laughed, and I cried. The last page is a heart string puller and keeps you hanging for Part 2. For the first novel from this author, I completely recommend it.

Summer Love Reviews: Just A Man

Sorry for not posting a review last week, I was on vacation with my family in Greece. We had a fantastic time, and I got a ton of research done for a future book that takes place on the Greek island of Crete.

The book I’m reviewing this week is Just A Man, by. Shannon Youngblood. I got to read an ARC copy of this book and let me tell you, this book is everything and has it all. It is an Alpha Billionaire romance. Normally, Alpha’s aren’t my thing, but Alex Porter has a heart of gold and won me over when it comes to Alphas.

About the Book:

justamanFor Charlotte Ann-Marie Hightower, living with her best friend, applying for a Personal Assistant job at Alex Porter Industries and enjoying all that Southern California had to offer was enough to scab over the tragic truth of her past. Little did she know that Alex Porter, a sexy billionaire entrepreneur, would turn everything on its axis.

Alex comes with his own past of tragic regret that often causes his desire for complete control in all areas of his life. However, with one look from the fiery haired daydreamer, everything changed for him too.

Now Charlotte finds herself facing the deepest darkest aspects of the past while Alex refuses to do the same. The question becomes, can they save each other from a past that quickly becomes their present?

Just A Man is set for release on June 30th, you can buy your copy HERE!

My Review:

I loved this premiere novel from Shannon Youngblood. The chemistry literally drips from the pages as you get into the complex, yet sizzling relationship between Alex and Charlotte. Each character has their own past that dictates their relationship. I found Charlotte to be outspoken and fun, which I love in the leading female characters. I’m currently reading very popular Billionaire Alpha Erotic Romance (take your guess) and the lead female is always putting herself down and it is driving me nuts. Charlotte, on the other hand, has spark and spunk. Then there is Alex Porter who drips with sex appeal **fans self**. He has a need for order and control, and Charlotte is the total opposite.
Charlotte’s huge personality and backbone helped me personally get into the story, and it didn’t hurt that Alex sounds like a sexy beast.
This story is excellently written, and I couldn’t wait to read more and more. You won’t be disappointed with this book, and I am so excited for the upcoming books in the series (I’ve started with the second book… OMG you guys will eat it up once it is released). There is a sizzling romance, a hot man, and suspense that ties this great story together.
Shannon Youngblood has a winner on her hands.

Summer Love Reviews: MINT, by. Blue Davis

Hey, readers!

Besides writing, something else I love to do is read. Over the summer, I want to catch up on my reading and find some new and exciting reads. I will mainly be reading Contemporary Romance. If you have any book suggestions, please sent them to me at janaewrites@hotmail.com

I will try and post reviews once a week as best I can.

My first review of the Summer will be MINT an Interracial Romance by. Blue Davis.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

MINTLexi Steele began as a jewel thief in Seattle. Brave, clever and a little reckless, she defied the status quo while satisfying her hunger for an adrenaline high. When a high-rise diamond heist went wrong, she promised herself to stick to retrieving unclaimed gold, which was less likely to lead to violent situations.

Did she sentence herself to a boring life? Hardly. She now trots around the globe, seeking lost treasure of the world. There’s just one problem. As exciting as her life is, she has no one to share it with.
James Ashton, her chief rival in the business, would love to fix this problem for her. Too bad they have been competing in the same field for almost a decade. Granted, they’ve been flirting for almost that whole time, but at the end of the day, business has always been business.

When Lexi discovers that she needs a man to help her deal with locals in Haiti, she makes a somewhat reluctant offer to split the take with him in return for a temporary partnership. Is the implausible partnership doomed from start, or will they cooperate and learn to work together?

When events take a turn for the worse, she and James must rely on each other to escape back to the States with the gold. Do they lay aside their differences and fight to succeed or do they push each other away and end in failure?

You can purchase your copy of MINT on Amazon.

MY REVIEW:

I’ve been a Blue Davis fan since the winter when I discovered her books. I was very excited for MINT and this book did not disappoint. In fact, I think it is her best book yet. (My 2nd fav is Love in Transit)

I was hooked from page one. First, Lexi is a strong and independent woman on her own in a foreign country hunting treasure. She is determined to accomplish what she set out to do. You cannot help but love this leading female.

James oozes sex appeal and the sexual tension between he and Lexi burns up the pages. I was dying as I waited for their first kiss and once it happened, there was no turning back. The sex…WOW…HOT HOT AND HOT!
I ate this book up and read it in a day. I had a toddler climbing all over me, but I refused to put this book down.
You won’t be disappointed when you buy this book. I love the treasure hunting element to the book, it kept the storyline fresh (Plus National Treasure is one of my favorite movies… secretly love the idea of Treasure hunting). There are twists and turns that leave you gasping for air, this is one of the best books I’ve read all year. I cannot wait to get my hands on the upcoming books in the saga.
